Hand in the Sand

Start: Begin by speaking to Bert, who can be found just north of the pub in Yanille.
Skills: 17 Thieving and 49 Crafting.
Quests: None!
What You Need: A beer, 2 empty vials, red berry, white berry, lantern lense, 5 earth runes, a bucket of sand, around 500gp.
Recommended Items: Teleport runes or a charged Glory Amulet.

Getting Started

To start the quest, you must talk to Bert, who is located in Yanille. If you speak to him, he’ll say that he found a hand in the sand.

Say that you’ll help a hand, and you will get a Sandy Hand.

When you have the hand, head south to the pub, and you’ll find the Guard Captain.

Buy a beer from the bartender, and talk to him. When you do that, head to the Wizard Guild, which is west of the bank in Yanille, and then ring the bell.

When you ring it, Zavistic Rarve will appear. Talk to him, and then go back to Bert. Talk to Bert again, and you’ll get Bert’s Rota.

Now go to Brimhaven. Go to the Sand Corp Office (just south of the restaurant), and talk to Sandy. He says he doesn’t have time.

Search Sandy’s desk, and you’ll find Sandy’s Rota. You can also pickpocket him a few times until you receive some sand. When you have the rota and sand, head back to Bert again. Talk to Bert, and you’ll get a magic scroll. Then ring the bell at the Wizard’s Guild again. Talk to Zavistic Rarve again, and you’ll exchange the magic scroll for a Magical Orb. If you give him an empty vial, he will teleport you to Betty in Port Sarim, which is who you should go to next.

Now talk to Betty (be sure to have an empty vial with you), who can be found in the rune shop, and you’ll get a bottle with some water. Now get yourself a white berry, a red berry and a Bullseye lense, which can be crafted. Use the Redberry with the bottle Betty gave you, next use the Whiteberry with it and finally use this with the Lense to make a Rose Tinted Lense.

Once you’re finished, talk to Betty again. She will put the vial on the counter. You need to use the rose tinted lense with the counter, while standing in the doorway. Now you have a Truth Serum.

If you talk to Betty again, she’ll say you will need something personal from the person, which you’re going to give to it. Now go back to Betty and speak to her. She will put the sand in the Serum. Now go to Sandy again, and speak to him. Tell him that a small parrot is out the window (or that a mutant herring was falling out of the sky), then put the Serum in the coffee.

Activate the magic orb, and talk to Sandy again.

Ask him all of the questions you can ask. At the question “what happened to the wizard,” he’ll answer that he killed him. Once you’ve done this, go to Zavistic Rarve again, and talk to him. You will then see a short cutscene. He’ll need 5 earth runes and a bucket of sand.

Once you have the required items, bring them to Zavistic Rarve. He’ll tell you to check out Entrana, and talk to Mazion, who is near the sand pits. He will give you a wizard’s head. Bring the head to Zavistic Rarve to complete the quest.

• Talk to Bert once daily, and you’ll automatically get 84 buckets of sand stored in your bank.
• 9,000 Crafting and 1,000 Thieving experience.
